Product Description

100% Syrah. Red and dark berry aromas along with floral and white pepper. Intense blackberry and bitter cherry flavors put on weight with a hint of smokiness and dusty tannins.

Winemaker Stéphane Vedeau owns small parcels of vines across northern and southern Rhône. The Boutin wines from the north are named after his mother, Jeannine Boutin. For his St Joseph, the Syrah grapes are harvested by hand, de-stemmed and then allowed to ferment together slowly on the skins for three to five weeks. After gentle pressing, the free-run and press wines are combined, then matured for fourteen months in a combination of 500 litre oak barrels and large vats.
