Q. What (or who) is the remueur<\/em>?<\/p>\n

A. It’s no secret that in traditional Champagne production methods, a remueur <\/em>would manually riddle, or rotate, the bottles of wine to ensure the sediment slowly cascades towards the neck of the bottle. Remueurs have mostly been replaced with gyropalettes, which are machines that mechanize this process.<\/p>\n

The remueur might be difficult to say\u2014rhem<\/em>-yur, roughly<\/a>\u2014but you’ll probably have an even harder time saying it with a bad head cold. Fleetwood Mac does not sing about remueurs, and if you try to pass along the message playing “telephone,” we bet no one would get it right (unless…you played in France?)!<\/p>\n
