\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tYes, there is such a thing as “Go For Broke Day” and no, it didn’t arise from a gambling casino. Rather, the day’s origin ties to April 5, 1944, the day Sadao “Spud” Munemori<\/a> sacrificed his life to save his fellow US soldiers during World War II battle in Seravezza, Italy. Munemori’s heroic actions that day earned a posthumous Medal of Honor and symbolized his combat team’s motto, “Go for Broke.” That team, the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, earned 21 Medals of Honor, earned 52 Distinguished Service Crosses, 1 Distinguished Service Medal, 560 Silver Stars, 22 Legion of Merit Medals, 15 Soldier\u2019s Medals, 4,000 Bronze Stars, and 486 Purple Hearts. There’s even a Go For Broke National Education Center<\/a> where you can learn more about this tremendously decorated regiment.\r\n\r\nSo, what to do to celebrate Go For Broke Day? Do something that truly signifies putting forth all the effort you have, regardless of the obstacles ahead of you.
