Shows engaging aromas of slate, mountain herbs and fresh plum. This red's pristine structure balances the plum and berry flavors against a saline edge, which lends a mouthwatering quality and lengthens the finish around black pepper notes and smooth-textured tannins. Drink now through 2035. 100 cases imported.
Located above 3,000 feet elevation in Luján de Cuyo, this distinctive vineyard is characterized by drastic diurnal temperature differences and an almost non-existent risk of frost. The climate is arid; the deep soil is clay loam, with boulders 12 feet below the surface. Irrigation is traditional, with water from the Andes Mountains and from a well. The Serenade Vineyard’s ungrafted vines were planted in 1935. They are trained using the simple Guyot system. The old vines produce mid-sized bunches of grapes with exceptional acidity, tannins and persistent flavors in the mouth
The 2020 season experienced low amounts of rainfall, with some instances of frost and hail. Winter was cool and dry and
summer experienced high temperatures.
100% of the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months (2/3 are new barrels and 1/3 are second use barrels)
Fruit forward with notes of plum and blackcurrant. Aromas of vanilla and butter, followed by hints of star anise. It is harmonious, lush, and full-bodied with ample red fruit character and refined lingering tannins.
