This red combines elegance with structure, evoking floral, cherry, kirsch and earth flavors. The structure leans toward tannins in the balance, but the length and intensity indicate more to come. Best from 2027 through 2045. 195 cases imported.
Jadot is the second largest owner within this large and historic Grand Cru. Recent climate change has elevated the stature of the Jadot parcels, with deeper soils capable of retaining moisture and coping with the current annual drought conditions. This is still a wine for aging, with burly tannins and dark fruit and earth flavors, yet in recent years much more elegant and focused.
18 months in barrel, 1/3 new oak
The 2021 vintage was memorable for the extreme challenges it posed to growers. The defining event was a hard freeze in April which lasted several days, and the subsequent dramatic reduction in harvest volumes. Added to this were cool and wet summer conditions which required constant vigilance. The delayed harvest eventually yielded tiny volumes of pristine grapes which express a vibrant and energetic purity.
This wine exhibits dark blue and black fruit cloaked in mossy damp earth nuances. The texture is weighty and dense, with abundant tannins which suggest a long life in the cellar. Once fully integrated this wine blossoms with a broad array of spice, dried flower, candied red fruit and sweet earth notes.
Serve with roasted or sauced red meat, pheasant, venison or other large game and medium-strength cheeses such as Camembert.
