Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Roche Calcaire
Alsace, France is famous for its crazy-quilt soils, a diversity made from geologic movement and formations taking place over eons. This means producers can grow one grape in a plot and move to the next patch for totally different results, even if it’s just a stone’s throw away. Domaine Zind-Humbrecht is renowned for its diverse expressions of Alsace terroir, and their Roche, or “rock,” labels showcase distinct soils. Roche Calcaire = Limestone Rock, from the foothills of the Vosges Mountain range. Younger soils tend to have more limestone in them and make wines with firm acidity and good structure (and a great value!).
