Bodega Norton Barrel Select Sauvignon Blanc

You’ve had Sauvignon Blanc from France (Pouilly-Fumé, Sancerre!), California (don’t let the name Fumé Blanc fool you), and of course New Zealand (no fancy names for NZ’s SB, but if you’ve had it you know it’s bright, intense, and aromatic). Have you tried it from South America yet? Let me introduce you to Sauvignon Blanc from Mendoza, Argentina. Once an unusual find in this country known more for its Malbec and native Torrontes, Argentinian Sauvignon Blanc has made a name for itself as a complex, mineral-forward white closer to Bordeaux’s style than New Zealand’s. While there is no coastline to give the grapes a cool breeze, what Argentina does have is altitude and the Andes—and Bodega Norton’s Sauvignon Blanc grapes are grown at over 4,000 feet altitude. This gives it its Barrel Select Sauvignon Blanc a crisp acidity, notes of green apple, and overall refreshing profile.

Tasting Notes

Greenish yellow with golden hues. Aromas of green apples and tropical fruit. Complexity given by notes of vanilla, coconut, toast and a smoked touch.

Food Match

Excellent paired with seafood, sushi, Niçoise salad, pork chops, and chicken.
