Some girls think of Pumpkin Spice Lattes and cute sweaters when autumn comes, but I think immediately of truffle. I used to work in the town of Alba in Piedmont, Italy, and each year from October to December, the Alba International White Truffle Fair took place. If you got anywhere close to the city center, you could smell the tartufo! It was heavenly. In honor of National Mushroom Day (today), whip up a truffle-scented dish and pair it with this Barbera Nizza. The fruity red hails from the same region in Piedmont, and the Nizza appellation of Barbera means the wine is high quality, structured, deep, and complex – you don’t want anything less than exceptional when you’re enjoying truffle.

Shows aromas and flavors of spice, ripe black plum, black cherry and dark chocolate. The wine has coiled, tangy acidity and a velvety texture.
