Day #[wpdts-day-of-year start=”post-created”] of the year.
Yuki No Bosha Junmai Ginjo “Cabin in the Snow”
We’ve come nearly full circle: Almost a year has passed since banana bread became the go-to baking project of choice for a newly house-ridden, pandemic-stricken nation, and today is National Banana Bread Day! It’s not hard to see why it became a sensation: it’s the ultimate comfort food, uses ingredients you have on hand, and makes you feel good about those three bananas you completely forgot you bought last week (see? You did it on purpose!). By now, you probably have your favorite recipe—mine uses a full five bananas—and several variations. This means it’s time to find your favorite pairing, and of course we’re going to take it beyond teatime. You might be surprised to learn that sakes can go perfect with dessert. They are smooth, often with an inherent, faint sweetness due to the rice starches, and usually include fruity flavor notes along with zero acidity. This Yuki No Bosha Junmai Ginjo is an excellent choice to pair with a cozy dessert like banana bread. It’s even named “Cabin in the Snow,” which makes curling up with a slice and a cupful of Yuki No Bosha the ultimate comfort pairing.
