Day #[wpdts-day-of-year start=”post-created”] of the year.

Shichi Hon Yari Junmai Ginjo Nigori

Two things about “Kingfisher” by Patricia A. McKillip surprised me: how easily she blended a fantastical Arthurian quest with cars and cellphones and everything modern, and the endless mouthwatering descriptions of food. Scenes were set in kitchens, main characters were servers and chefs, and every dish sounded good enough to pluck off the page and eat! The Shichi Hon Yari Junmai Ginjo Nigori (unfiltered) pairs well with a wide variety of flavorful foods whether you’re eating or reading about them: from crab cakes with “outrageous sweet-fiery sauce” to onion cheddar biscuits and mixed pepper aioli that’s “this side of heaven and that side of everlasting fire.”

Tasting Notes

This small-production nigori or “unfiltered sake” bursts with notes of pineapple, papaya and coconut. It is bright and lively with a fresh and robust mouthfeel. Before serving, gently shake the bottle to properly mix the sediments with the sake.
