Alta Vista Estate Malbec
Katz’s and Catz’s – National Pastrami and Dress Your Pet Day(s)!
For any real carnivorous New Yorker, today is truly a day worth celebrating since we are the world’s capital of delis with iconic establishments, such as Katz’s, Carnegie Hall Deli, and Second Avenue Deli.
My go-to spot is Katz’s, and today I splurged on double pastrami on rye with cheese, half-sour pickle. To wash it all down, I selected a robust Malbec from Alta Vista, Mendoza. The Malbec’s high tannins and acidity held up beautifully when paired with the cured, smoked, and spiced beef.
P.S. As to the “Dress Your Pet” part of the day, my cat had ZERO interest in participating. In revenge, I will commission him a portrait dressed as a princess from The Funny Pet Portrait on Etsy.
