Campo al Mare Bolgheri Rosso
Today, January 25th, is National Irish Coffee Day! As someone with predominantly Irish ancestry, I can attest to the pick-me up that this particular brew provides. There are a variety of different recipes, but most include four key components: Irish whiskey (usually Bailey’s or Jameson), cream, coffee, and brown sugar. This concoction is primarily drunk in the morning, usually in advance of a sporting event or a family gathering. While Irish whiskey can get you through the early portion of the day, I’d recommend saving an Italian wine for your nightcap – specifically, the Campo al Mare Bolgheri Rosso. Crafted primarily in Tuscany, this powerful wine is deep red in color and intense on the palate. I’d recommend pairing it with beef – particularly those that are mixed in with a stew.
ORIGIN
Bolgheri Rosso DOC
Grapes
60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit
Tasting Notes
Its deep, dark and dense colour opens the way to explosive aromas characterized by a vibrant balsamic note. On the palate it is velvety and enveloping, with a harmonious and balanced end.
Food Match
Pairs well with beef steaks, roasts and stews as well as rich poultry.
