Happy International Women’s Day! I chose this delicious sparkling wine made by Remi Cohen of Domaine Carneros in honor of women in wine. Remi recently took the reins as CEO and winemaker after the winery’s former CEO and head winemaker, Eileen Crane, stepped down in 2020. And, the Napa Valley winery was founded by Taittinger, a Champagne house today run by CEO Vitalie Taittinger. Raise a glass to women in sparkling wine! Domaine Carneros Brut has fine bubbles with aromas of white flowers, apple, pear, and vanilla. I sipped a glass of this bubbly alongside “Something I’ve Been Meaning to Tell You,” a collection of 13 short stories by Alice Munroe, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2013. The stories are so well-crafted and elegant, they turn the characters’ lives into extraordinary slices of life…which reminds me of how the everyday can be made special by enjoying sparkling wine ANY day of the year, not just for celebrations!
