Day #[wpdts-day-of-year start=”post-created”] of the year.

Domaine Ferret Pouilly-Fuissé Hors-Classe Les Ménétrières

Don’t be intimidated by its long name. Know that a Pouilly-Fuissé wine is always 100% Chardonnay from Burgundy. The extra words are bonus: “Hors-Classe” refers to a classification system positioning this wine just below Premier Cru and which is currently under review for usage; and Les Ménétrières is the single vineyard that this Pouilly-Fuissé from Domaine Ferret is grown. Just two acres big, this is definitely a special wine that you’ll want to spring for, if you can find it. Don’t forget to check out the link below for retail and restaurant options near you.

ORIGIN

Mâconnais, Burgundy, France

100% Chardonnay

Domaine Ferret Pouilly-Fuisse bottle

Tasting Notes

Superbly rich and generous, the wine has aromas of subtle cream blended with rich Chardonnay fruit, with honey notes. On the palate, ripe fruit, toast and quince paste punctuate a full-bodied, generous rich wine that is powerful, intense and vivid, with a long, haunting finish. The wine will benefit from further maturing in bottle.
