Halloween is the perfect excuse to indulge in a cozy night in. Few things set the mood for this festive season like a classic Halloween movie. Whip up your favorite pumpkin bread, gather a few friends, and settle in for a marathon of spooky favorites. There’s no better way to practice a little self-care than with a great movie and a glass of your favorite wine. To inspire your evening, our team has curated a list of favorite Halloween movies paired with the wines we’d reach for to complement them.
Hocus Pocus
Mackenzie Lesher

Hocus Pocus is one of the best (if not THE best) Halloween movie of all time. I will be watching this Halloween-classic with a glass of Nozzole Chianti Classico Riserva in hand. This wine is the best of both worlds with fruity notes of red berry and cherry and a hint of cedar earthiness; Bright yet also cozy, this is the perfect wine to sip curled up in a giant blanket with a good movie. Also, if you’re like me and love a little movie snack, Nozzole Chianti Classico Riserva pairs beautifully with a cheeseboard!

Twitches
Hailey Giordano

One of my favorite Halloween movies is Twitches! It’s a nostalgic, feel-good classic that perfectly blends magic, sisterhood, and just the right touch of spooky. It’s lighthearted with a little darkness, much like the wine I’d pair it with: Montes Twins Red Blend. This wine is bold and fruit-forward, with rich blackberry and plum notes, balanced by a hint of spice- an ideal match for the movie’s mix of mystery and charm. Just like the twin witches discovering their powers, Montes Twins is all about duality: approachable yet layered, playful but with depth. It’s the kind of wine that makes movie night feel like a little celebration, especially when you’re cozied up in fall weather. Plus, the name “Twins” makes it feel like it was meant to be. Magic, mischief, and a great glass of red, what more could you need?

Halloweentown
Lauren James

One of my favorite Halloween movies is Halloweentown. This was a classic Halloween movie growing up and is always fun to re-watch during this time of year. A wine I would pair with this movie is a glass of Taylor Fladgate 10 Year Tawny Port. This rich, elegant, sweet red wine pairs perfectly with the Halloween candy I would eat during the movie. The subtle notes of chocolate, butterscotch, and fine oak wood are just the right flavors to get me through this scary movie!

Monster House
Anna Brenny

This Halloween I am dying to rewatch Monster House. Monster House was a staple of my childhood and the early 2000’s. It is an animated movie where these young kids notice a house in the neighborhood that is terrorizing people who step foot in its yard. It is spooky, but it is also a comedy, so it maintains lightness throughout. Next weekend I am planning on lighting my pumpkin vanilla candle from Trader Joes (it smells so good!), pouring a glass of the Sette Ponti Crognolo, and cozying up to watch Monster House. The Sette Ponti Crognolo is a perfect pairing to this movie. It is fruity with ripe cherries and berries on the palate with a spicy bouquet. The Crognolo is a Super Tuscan style made from approximately 80% Sangiovese. A glass of this complements the movie perfectly because it has rich, concentrated flavors with some nice spice, which mirrors the spookiness of the house. However, it also has bright, juicy fruit flavors and a very smooth body, which makes it still easy to drink and mirrors the comedic element to the movie.
