All of us have bought a bottle of wine with the intention of saving it for a special occasion. Most are cellared for a traditional celebration, such as a graduation or a birthday party. However, I like to save wine for a rather unorthodox purpose – album releases. Nowadays, every musician has a team of PR assassins at their disposal, ready to drop social media teasers at a moment’s notice. This has led to more hype behind album drops now than at any other time in recent memory. The musician I’m thinking of in particular is Kanye West. Kanye has been slated to drop Donda, his 10th studio album, for some time now. However, there have been several delays and postponements, as any Yeezy stan is all-too familiar with. Alas, the stellar wine I’ve chosen to preserve – the Louis Jadot Clos Vougeot Grand Cru, will remain unopened for the time being. This wine is comprised entirely of Pinot Noir and is at its best when paired with medium-strength cheeses, such as Camembert and Asiago. On the palate, it has hints of cherry and candied strawberry. Word to the wise: if you’re saving a wine for an album drop, be sure it has a confirmed release date.
