Day #[wpdts-day-of-year start=”post-created”] of the year.

Montes Classic Cabernet Sauvignon

“Piranesi” by Susanna Clarke is one of those rare books that leaves me thinking about it long after I’ve finished reading. Its mysteries unfold page by page, contained neatly in the organized reasonings of the protagonist, contrasting with its infinitely vast, otherworldly setting. I’d recommend picking this up without reading anything else about it (don’t even peak at the blurb!) for maximum mystery enjoyment. I paired it with the Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon by Montes because its cryptic nature calls for a grape that can be brooding, layered, and in-depth. And the statue-like angel logo of Montes Winery is perfect. Read and you’ll know why!

ORIGIN

Colchagua Valley, Chile

85% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 15% Merlot

Montes Classic Cabernet Sauvignon Chile wine bottle

Tasting Notes

Bright and lively violet-red color with aromas of ripe strawberries, plums, and figs. Notes of tobacco, leather, and dark chocolate also intermingle with sweet spices such as nutmeg and black pepper. On the palate, the wine features well-balanced acidity, medium body, and incredibly smooth tannins followed by a moderately persistent finish.

Food Match

Highly recommended with braised beef with french fries, steak and eggs, paella, cannelloni, and lasagna.
