I was watching
“Lovesick”, and a line in season two episode six struck a curiosity “if love has its own day, what about the other emotions?”
So, a quick search, and in Finland, there is a
National Jealousy Day
In that vein and because we are all about wine, I must confess my jealousy of anyone with space for a proper wine cellar or a sizable wine fridge like this one from
Wine Enthusiast.
My dream stock up looks like the fridge pictured except with much more Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia in it! Perhaps, if I threw away my couch (who needs to sit?), I could get one in my tiny Brooklyn apartment.
I am a massive fan of Sassicaia, and any chance I have had to taste it at various trade events has never disappointed. For the past 20 vintages, Sassicaia has been in the 90-plus points club of the
Wine Spectator and with the 2015-16 vintages scoring 97, and 2018, 96 points, these wines are close to perfection in a bottle as it gets.
I will quote the expert
Bruce Sanderson to describe the 2018 vintage; after all, I am but a humble fan:
“Refined and complex, this red is all about finesse and restraint, starting out with floral and black currant flavors that build steadily on the palate, with olive, cedar, tobacco and spice notes adding detail as this lingers on the terrific finish. Needs five to seven years to fully emerge. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2025 through 2045.”
