Day #[wpdts-day-of-year start=”post-created”] of the year.

Tenuta Sette Ponti Oreno Toscana IGT

Today is my birthday, and if I’ve realized anything this year it’s that life is too short to not enjoy living. Inspiration hit me as I was listening to the Inside Wine Podcast. Ray Isle, HIMSELF, told me to drink my cellar. So tonight, I’m going to pick a stellar wine from the wooden box hidden in my dark apartment closet (aka my cellar). From the box, I’ll grab Tenuta Sette Ponti Oreno Toscana IGT 2018. A reasonable person would cellar this wine (properly), letting it age into its true potential. However, I’m not a reasonable person… and I’ve aged enough this year for the both of us. Happy Birthday to me, and happy death day to this bottle.

ORIGIN

Tuscany, Italy

Grapes

50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot

oreno, Sette ponte

Tasting Notes

The nose impresses with great aromatic richness and a complex bouquet of blackcurrant, small black fruits and delicate balsamic notes of menthol. In the mouth, the wine has velvety tannins and with aromas of black berried fruits that fill the palate with lingering persistence.

Food Match

A delicious companion with full flavored meats and roasts.
