Day #[wpdts-day-of-year start=”post-created”] of the year.

Villa Matilde Falanghina Campania IGP

Today is National Keto Day… Look, I’m not Keto and I don’t have plans to try it anytime soon. If you think anything is separating me from a bowl of warm truffle gnocchi, you are mistaken. I will admit however, that most dry wine is Keto friendly when consumed in moderation. Most dry wines have 3-5 grams of carbs per serving, which makes them a good beverage choice when watching your carb intake. It is carby-er beverages such as cocktails, dessert wines like port, and regular beer that would throw someone out of Ketosis. So when it comes to our Keto friendly friends, or in my case a favorite aunt who routinely goes keto January 1st each year following our holiday cookie binge, dry white wines like Villa Matilde’s Falanghina is an welcome companion to a 10-carb dinner. This Falanghina is good with a variety of fish, pasta (for me), and assorted soft cheeses which makes it perfect for Keto and non-keto diets a like!

Tasting Notes

The wine has a pale straw yellow color. On the nose the aromas is intense, floral and fruity, with essences of banana, tropical fruits and white peach, while the flavor conquers your mouth thanks to its sapid note, balancing the aromatic bouquet. This is a delicious Falanghina, pleasantly fresh, crisp and light-bodied.

Food Match

Rocca dei Leoni Falanghina pairs perfectly with tasty fish dishes, such as prawns, spaghetti or potatoes gnocchis with mussels and clams. It combines very well with fresh pasta and tomato sauces or vegetable soup.
