Campo al Mare Vermentino di Bolgheri DOC
When I think of the Mediterranean coast and a glass of wine by the sea, I think of Vermentino. This light- to medium-bodied wine comes in its best expressions along Liguria, Sardinia, and Maremma—picture windswept beaches, long grasses, and the colorful homes of Cinque Terre spilling into the sea. This Vermentino from Campo al Mare comes from the Maremman coast in Tuscany. It is a great example of how this grape, when treated with care, gives wines with excellent balance, substance, and character, often with notes of peach, citrus, herbs, and almonds.
