Napa Valley skyrocketed to worldwide fame in 1976 at a prestigious French wine competition called the Judgement of Paris. Two wines from Napa Valley—a Chardonnay and a Cabernet Sauvignon—won the event’s top honors, surprising all the critics and gaining Napa Valley and California respect in the wine world.
