Is that Glass in my Wine?!
Those clear sand or shard-like deposits, usually seen in white wines and collected on the cork, are tartrate crystals. These form when the tartaric acid naturally occurring in all wine solidifies at very cold temperatures. Don’t worry, you’re not drinking glass; they are completely harmless and won’t affect the wine’s flavor.
