Some of the world’s most sought-after wines are made with grapes grown in limestone soils, which are naturally alkaline with high pH levels, disease-resistant, and good at water retention. Famous areas with limestone soils include Burgundy, Champagne, the Loire and Rhône Valleys, Mendoza, and Tuscany.
