Surprisingly, This Wine No Longer Exists

Ancient Romans prized the Falernum wine. It was most likely white, exposed to sun or smoke, aged 10 years or more, and mixed with honey, spices, resins, and even seawater to soften and prolong the wine’s life. The resulting wines were powerful, strong, dark amber in color, and needed to be diluted with water.
