Sip of the Day

Day #[wpdts-day-of-year start=”post-created”] of the year.

Taittinger Nocturne “City Lights”

Champagne for celebrations, for special dinners, for no reason at all—these are all perfectly good moments to pop open that bottle. And Taittinger’s Nocturne Champagne has given us just a few more: its sweet profile (I don’t normally associate with Champagne, but its style is “sec”) makes it perfect for sipping alongside desserts; or, notwithstanding its gorgeous star-studded design, with a pastry during the day. Turn that coffee break into a Champagne break and see if that doesn’t perk you up.

ORIGIN

Champagne, France

Grapes

40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Meunier

Bottle of Champagne

Tasting Notes

This distinctively sweet “sec” Champagne (with 18 g/l residual sugar) is pale yellow in color with shimmering highlights and bubbles that form a delicate ring of fine foam. On the nose there are aromas of white flowers, yellow peach and dried apricots. The palate is smooth and creamy yet very crisp and gives way to flavors of raisins and fruit in syrup. This mature, rich and round wine culminates in a long, smooth finish.

Food Match

Nocturne is the perfect accompaniment to fruit desserts or lightly sweet pastry or cakes as well as rich pâtés with toasted brioche.
