Now that our Halloween costumes are put away for the year, we can’t stop thinking about what to serve at Thanksgiving. A day of delicious food, wine, and our favorite people – what could be better? The air is crisp, the fireplace is roaring, and the table is overflowing with delicious food and wine. We are dreaming of the juicy turkey, creamy mashed potatoes, savory stuffing, and rich pumpkin pie. Celebrate this holiday in style with the best food and wine pairings. We have rounded up our favorite Thanksgiving dishes and the best wines to pair with them, which will be sure to impress your loved ones.
Classic Turkey + Medici Ermete Phermento
I love hosting Thanksgiving potlucks because it brings everyone together to share their favorite dishes, making the meal a true celebration of flavors and traditions. As the hostess, I always handle the turkey, ensuring it’s perfectly roasted and the centerpiece of our feast. This year, I’m excited to pour Medici Ermete Phermento, a sparkling Lambrusco that’s become my go-to wine for the occasion. Its bright acidity and fruity notes pair beautifully with the turkey, adding a refreshing touch that complements the richness of the dish. Plus, the wine’s effervescence adds a festive sparkle to the table, making the holiday even more special.
Pumpkin Pie + Taylor Fladgate 20-Year Old Tawny Port
There is no Thanksgiving that is complete without a delicious pumpkin pie. Pumpkin pie is always my go-to because it is my favorite Thanksgiving food, but it is an easy dish to bring. Whether you want to make it easy and pick it up from the store or take the homemade route, it is always a crowd-pleaser. The perfect ending to a delicious meal shared with family and friends is a large slice of pumpkin pie with Taylor Fladgate 20-Year Old Tawny Port. This port is perfect to end your meal as it is often considered a dessert wine due to its sweetness. This port is complex and spicy with jammy and nutty aromas. It also has hints of orange flower and an oakiness that comes from the long period of aging in cask. The smooth, nutty flavor of this Tawny Port enhances the sweetness and spices of pumpkin pie perfectly. There is no better way to end a Thanksgiving meal!
Stuffing + Château des Jacques Moulin-à-Vent "Le Moulin"
Cru Beaujolais is a perfect match for Thanksgiving! I love how it pairs seamlessly with a variety of dishes, making it ideal for a potluck Friendsgiving. Château des Jacques is my go-to brand—it’s the perfect bottle to share with friends during our feast. I usually bring my crowd-pleaser sausage and vegetarian stuffing, which everyone loves, especially when paired with the Moulin-à-Vent, ‘Le Moulin.’ Its complex, powerful flavor complements classic vegetables, crunchy breadcrumbs and seasoning beautifully.
Cornflake Potatoes + Louis Jadot Chablis Premier Cru
Friendsgiving is the time to pull out your fan-favorite recipes to wow your friends! My go-to is something I like to call “cornflake potatoes”. This dish consists of shredded potato, loads of cheese, sour cream, and is topped with cornflakes that are baked to a golden crisp. This dish is creamy and starchy, so I plan on bringing a bottle of Louis Jadot Chablis Premier Cru to Friendsgiving to pair with! This Chablis is acidic and bright with notes of white flower, melon, and citrus – Just what a thick and creamy dish needs to balance out the richness!
Herb Crusted Salmon + Bouvet Ladubay Saphir
If you want to bring a show-stopping dish to your next Friendsgiving, consider serving herb crusted salmon paired with Bouvet Ladubay “Saphir” 2021. This wine’s bright acidity, fine bubbles and notes of white flowers, peach, acacia, and hazelnut make it an excellent match for seafood, especially dishes with vibrant flavors. The bright herbs and citrus in the crust are beautifully balanced by the wine’s acidity. Serving this salmon with a light, citrusy salad will further enhance the wines freshness and long-lasting aromas.
Bring your Thanksgiving to the next level this year and impress your family with these food and wine pairings. Our team at Wine365 hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday with the people they love the most. Check out these wines here!
