The Beaune vineyards are the most extensive of the Côte de Beaune, with a high number of Premiers Crus (36) due to the ideal incline of the majority of these vineyards. Clos des Ursules is a walled portion (or clos) of the Premier Cru Vignes Franches vineyard and has been owned by the Jadot family since 1826. The Pinot Noir grapes are destemmed and fermented in open tanks for up to one month, then matured in oak barrels for 15 to 18 months before blending.

100% Pinot Noir
16 months in oak casks, 30% new oak
This was a somewhat turbulent growing season. Lack of soil moisture and a poor fruit set diminished the harvest volumes. However, the fruit was harvested in perfect condition and vinification proceeded uneventfully to produce pristine and classic wines.
This wine begins with subtle earth, mocha and dusty red and blue fruit aromas. On the palate there is both energy and expansive texture with moderate tannins and dark berry fruit nuances. The finish is long and complex with hints of tobacco and fine spice.
This Beaune red wine is ideally suited to robust roasts and grilled meats, BBQ, and roasted vegetables.
