Day #110 of the year.

Croft 10 Year Old Tawny Porto

Tawny Port and Apple Tarte is a long-time favorite pairing in my arsenal, but today for National Pineapple Upside Down Cake Day, I will be giving my Croft 10-Year-Old Tawny Port a new pairing partner. Thanks to the beautiful caramelization on the pineapple and the simple vanilla cake mix, this pairing was a hit! Grap your cake pan, a can of pineapple, and a box of Duncan Heinz vanilla cake mix and judge for yourself.

ORIGIN

Douro, Portugal

Grapes

Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, Tinta Amarela

Croft 10 year Tawny

Tasting Notes

With an attractive, tawny color and amber rim, this wine shows full, complex aromas of mellow spices along with walnut, butterscotch and fine oak notes against a background of rich, jammy fruit. On the palate, the wine is silky and round, full of ripe fig flavors.

Food Match

An excellent choice for the end of a meal or at the end of an evening, this wine can be served slightly chilled on its own or with walnuts or roasted almonds, or nut-based desserts. Made to be enjoyed immediately.
