How To Say It
Vino Joe Says...
Description
Since 1982, Cabreo has expressed the perfect harmony between tradition, innovation and suitability for the territory in which it is born: Greve in Chianti. This wine is the result of a careful blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese, which respectively give softness, strength and elegance, and of a long aging in small French oak barrels.

Vino Joe Says...
I’m biased – Super Tuscans are my jam and this is one of my favorites. My biggest struggle with Cabreo is whether to open a bottle or hold it for another year — or 5 years, or 10. This wine is so generous and delicious now, yet it clearly will continue developing with proper cellaring. The solution? Buy at least 12 bottles and open up at least 1-2 per year over the next 5-10 years. And take notes!

This wine, characterized by complex and charming aromas, stands out for its fresh and crispy fruit taste, with a silky finish and a great persistence.
It goes perfectly with all meat dishes, great cheeses, or just enjoyed with friends.
Vinified in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 28 ° C. Maceration on the skins for 18 days. Aged in 225L French oak barriques, of which 30% new, 40% one year old, 30% two years old, for 18 months. Aged in the bottle for at least another 6 months prior to release.

The 2018 vintage is extremely precious in terms of quality and quantity produced. Hints of dried berries, cherries, chocolate and nuts. Full-bodied and tannins perfectly balanced. Dense and abundant on the palate.
What The Critics Say...
A blend of equal parts Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the 2018 Il Borgo is a renewed wine with this vintage. Past editions saw a blend of mostly Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon in a supporting role. This release is softer on the mid-palate with darkly extracted fruit. The wine reveals dark cherry, spice and hints of bittersweet chocolate that give it a very contemporary, accessible personality. Fruit is sourced from across 40 hectares of vine. — Monica Larner, Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate
