There is nothing like a dark chocolate covered candied orange peel to finish off a long day. Back in the day, I used to have to wait until we would get a box of these at some artisanal fudge shop on vacation. But now, these fan favorites are mainstream and you can find them in almost every local chocolate or sweet store. On a regular night I would pop 1 (or 2) of these after dinner, but if a have a bottle of Tawny, such as Taylor Fladgate 10 Year Old Tawny Porto, I like to indulge in a mini dessert pairing. While port or dark chocolate might not be for everyone, they are two of my favorite treats. Having a glass of port or a piece of dark chocolate is part of my evening routine, signaling that meal is finished and I’m done eating for the day. Try this combination a few times and I’m sure you’ll be hooked to make it part of your daily ritual too.
With an intense amber tawny color, the wine has sweet, elegant apricot flavors, delicate wood notes and rich, seductive aromas of mature fruit. Full-bodied and highly concentrated.

Pairs well with figs, almonds, pecan pie, desserts made with coffee or caramel, and crème brûlée. It can also be served at the end of the meal with walnuts or dried fruit and it can be slightly chilled in the summer.
