Day #[wpdts-day-of-year start=”post-created”] of the year.

Sequoia Grove Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Fun suggestion for teachers or professors: when teaching about those big chunks of time in Earth’s history, like the Jurassic or Triassic periods, make it memorable by speculating how evolution could have turned out in each time period—intelligent dinos, computing lobsters, squids the size of the Empire State building…On the other hand, maybe this is a good reason why I am NOT a teacher. Anyway, “The Doors of Eden” by Adrian Tchaikovsky is a big book that takes many such speculating leaps, and you won’t want to rush through it. I chose a wine accordingly. Sequoia Grove Cabernet Sauvignon is big, complex, and evolves beautifully in the glass as it sits open (ha). Take little sips and enjoy the bottle and the read.

ORIGIN

Napa Valley, California

Grapes

83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 1% Syrah, 1% Malbec, 1% Petit Verdot

Sequoia Grove Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes

Dark red in color, the initial aromas are of bright black cherry and blackberry, followed by baking spices and a hint of chocolate. On the palate, the wine is intensely flavorful with round and smooth tannins, full of blackberry flavor and subtle toasty vanilla notes.

Created by potrace 1.16, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2019

Food Match

A versatile food wine, the Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon pairs well with any red meat on the grill, pork tenderloin, heavy cheeses and grilled vegetables.
