How To Say It
Vino Joe Says...
Description
Alta Vista’s iconic wine, represents the benchmark among Argentine wines, crafted from the highest quality grapes from small vineyard parcels with low yields — two vines are required to make one bottle. Only 75 cases of this wine were imported to the US, out of a total of 583 produced.

Vino Joe Says...
Alta Vista is one of a handful of wineries making truly world-class Malbec, and Alto sings that truth. Their single-vineyard Malbecs are some of the greatest expressions of the grape begin made today, and adding 25% Cabernet Sauvignon takes Alto to another level — the highest level. The 75/25 blend is what I like to call a “reverse Bordeaux.” Get at least a six-pack of this and enjoy it over the next 15 years.

Brilliant ruby red in color. Fresh fruit aromas on the nose, cherry, blackberry and guava, and a touch of bay leaves with oak notes coming through and providing aromatic complexity. Full-bodied and superbly structured on the palate, lively in attack, but with a complex rich finish. Firm backbone with excellent acidity and great aging potential. It is recommended to decant it before drinking between 60ºF and 65ºF.
As with any great wine, Alto will show at its best when served with the finest foods that are simply prepared. A filet mignon or Chateaubriand grilled medium-rare are perfect, as are lechazo, roast suckling baby lamb or grilled chuletas de cordero, lamb chops.
Hand-picked grapes go through a double selection process on a sorting table. Alto is vinified in small, epoxy-lined concrete tanks which allow a gentle, precise vinification and extraction of polyphenols to produce an elegant wine. It is aged 14 months in new French oak barrels and at least 12 months in bottle.
This wine will evolve over the next 10 years, and can continue developing for 20 years at least.
A typical wine vintage of Mendoza, 2019 had moderate temperatures, sunny days, and rare rains. These ideal weather conditions resulted in grapes of exceptional quality and health.
What The Critics Say...
A hint of mocha and plenty of sweet spices to the cassis, blueberries, graphite, sandalwoood and pine cones. A ripe but juicy and generous full-bodied red with plenty of complexity on the palate that echoes with the nose. Tense, concentrated and succulent with very broad-shouldered tannins. A little fresher than the past. Drink from 2025.
