1. What was your first job as a writer?

Way back in around 2007, I started to do some beauty and fashion writing for SheKnows.com, which led to my first beauty blog. Since then, I started to freelance for dozens of other outlets, and segued to more of an overall lifestyle umbrella—now my focus is more food and spirits (because what’s more fun than that?!)

2. What led you to becoming a wine writer?

I love to write about what I love to enjoy most in life. That’s why I started in beautywho doesn’t want to feel pretty? But I also love great wine and great food.

3. What kind of reader do you have in mind when you’re writing?

Readers like me. I’m not fancy. I can’t afford fancy wine. In fact, I spent most of my early life drinking whatever “house white” or “house red” was during happy hour at my local bar. To be honest, there are still many nights that happens. Pre-pandemic, at least.

4. Where is the most magical place your wine writing has brought you?

I’ve been so blessed. I’ve been on wine tours of Italy, France, Spain, even as far as Australia and New Zealand. I always learn so much and I never forget how lucky I am!

5. What was one of your favorite articles to write, and why?

I loved learning about the sparkling wine regions of England – but I loved getting the scoop on wine that would be served at the royal wedding!

6. What is the best advice someone has given you on your writing?

To not take myself too seriously. No one is re-inventing the wheel, here!

7. What would you be doing if you weren’t writing about wine?

I write about cocktails too, and food, and travelso it’s a way to not get bored writing the same thing all the time, but still feel connected.
