Vines: 40 years old with some 70 year old plots.
The intense pink color is characteristic of a great Tavel and shines with bright red glints. Aromas of raspberry and strawberry share the glass with peppery notes. The wine is balanced and flavorful, and the finish is long with caramel notes. It is a gastronomic rosé that pairs with every part of the meal from aperitif through dessert.
Appearance: Intense ruby colour with shiny hints.
Nose: Complex and elegant with spicy, fruity notes (raspberries, strawberries, pomegranate).
Mouth: Elegant and firm structure with expressive fruit and spice. Long finish with remarkable freshness bringing a lovely balance to the wine.
Red snapper with tapenade, bouillabaisse, monkfish, coconut chicken, grilled lamb with herbes de Provence, scallops. with barbecue, white meat, fish, dessert, or fruit. Also good with barbecue.
The grapes are meticulously destemmed and cooled before vatting. Then they are blended in pairs during 12-24 hours maceration to enhance the aromatic complexity. Once the perfect colour is obtained, the vat is bled and the pomace undergoes a slow pressing before being incorporated with the free-run juice. Following that, fermentation takes place in thermoregulated vats for 15 days.
Drink now or lay down for 1-3 years or even more for increased complexity.
The 2022 vintage was impacted by difficult climatic conditions. There was hail in June followed by four months of drought conditions. This resulted in a smaller volume of grapes than usual but with exceptional quality. The wine is very well-balanced and rich in flavors.

Almost half Grenache, with the rest mostly Cinsault, Clairette, Mourvèdre and Syrah, the 2022 Tavel even includes small proportions of Bourboulenc and Picpoul. If you can hold off opening a bottle until this summer, or even into the fall, that would be a good idea, or else decant in advance of serving. Right now, there’s a touch of austerity to the wine, with scents of wet stone reducing the impact of red berries and citrus on the nose, and the full-bodied palate seems just a bit pinched and tight but with the potential to blossom in a few months.  90 points — Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate

A beautiful Tavel, the 2022 Tavel has ripe strawberry and floral aromatics to go with a medium-bodied, pure, elegant style on the palate offering plenty of Tavel richness and depth while staying fresh, light on its feet, and balanced. 91 points —  Jeb Dunnuck
